The Contemporary Glass Society is inviting anyone working with glass to apply for selection for a world-class exhibition close to the Olympic venues in London. The deadline is 24 February 2012.
Glass can be fragile, but more fragile still is the future of the UK’s ancient glassmaking traditions. As colleges close their glass courses, it’s becoming harder for would-be glass designers and craftspeople to learn the skills of this alchemical art.
The Contemporary Glass Society, which works to keep UK glassmaking alive, is going all out this summer to put glass on the map – a nationwide festival of exhibitions, workshops and happenings that will capture the Olympic spirit and bring the magic of glass to more people than ever before.
The centre-piece of the programme will be ‘Glass Games 2012‘ a world-class exhibition close to the Olympic venues in London, which will bring together the very best in contemporary glass, art and design.
Anyone working with glass can apply for selection, and the deadline is February 24. Application forms and more details are available from glassgames2012@gmail.com.
