Winner: Furniture maker Karl Sweeny from Dublin for his magnificent, elegant jewellery boxes. This new range of hand crafted heirloom jewellery boxes are lovingly designed and hand crafted by Karl Sweeny in his Dublin studio. With over nineteen years experience hand crafting fine furniture, Karl is currently focusing on heirloom boxes.

JLB Janice Louise Byrne
Goldsmith and Jewellery Designer

Dubliner Janice Louise Byrne enjoyed a colourful career in manufacturing jewellery, spanning over a decade before establishing her own business. Graduating with merit from the Craft Council of Ireland’s jewellery skills course in 2003, she continued on her training under one of Europe’s finest master goldsmiths, Johannes Lilienfeld, at one of Ireland’s largest jewellery manufacturers. In January 2011, Jlb Jewellery was born.

She combines inspiration from her love of nature, found objects, all that is macabre and her love of body art to produce fresh and unusual pieces for the everyday wearer.
She is inspired by life’s more inconspicuous things, things that many people would merely notice at all…the devil is in the detail.
