Creative Island is a space at Showcase that is dedicated to promoting products imagined, designed and made in Ireland, providing a platform for quality Irish craft makers to meet retailer buyers in a single contemporary and buyer-friendly area.
Terms and Conditions:
Applications are made to the Crafts Council of Ireland (CCoI) to be included in this space. Entry into the area is based on selection by an independent panel of professional retailers who assess applications based on:
* Commercial suitability for retail shops
* Product quality and craftsmanship
* Design and innovation
* % of new product
* Quality of marketing, point of sale and merchandising
Makers are required to submit the detailed application form along with five high quality digital images of the work they plan to exhibit (including the wholesale price for each piece). In addition they are required to supply examples of their marketing materials, web site information, information on innovation and new product, images of previous stand displays, images of in-store displays, lists of retailers and any other supporting information to support their application.
Entry is only open to CCoI registered craftspeople. Applicants are required to certify that their products are crafted in Ireland. Products made outside of the island of Ireland cannot be exhibited in Creative Island.
Starting in 2012, 10% of successful applications will be drawn randomly and audited to verify authenticity of their application. This audit will include a telephone call, site visit and questionnaire.
All successful candidates are required to submit plans for merchandising their stand for approval. Exhibitors who do not meet the required standard will be given feedback and asked to amend their plans. If an agreement cannot be reached the exhibitor will forfeit their place in the Creative Island Selected Area.
A waiting list of applicants is in place based on a ranked score by the selection committee. Any spaces that become available in the Creative Island Selected Area will be filled from this waiting list.
