Filip Vanas Jewellery

Filip Vanas has moved to Ireland from the Czech Republic in 2005 after graduating from architectural college in Prague. Due to the recession he was made redundant from his architectural job in 2009 and decided to take a carreer break. After taking some jewellery courses on NCAD and few months of experiments at home he found a new direction in his career. By the end of the year he already launched a jewellery making business.
Filip is a two time winner of the Future Makers grant and the National Craft Competition 2010 finalist. His work has been presented at a number of exhibitions both in Irealnd and abroad. His fully work reflects his architectural background: simple shapes, dramatic contrasts, vivid colours, unusual materials– those are the key elements of his designs together with a long and structured design process. But despite the complex technical approach, Filip always tries to keep his designs as simple as possible, so the beauty of pure geometrical shapes amplified by the colours can stand out.
