Learn various enamelling techniques over two days – Sifted, liquid, opaque and transparent enamelling for jewellery and small wall pieces – we will be using copper and including silver foil in some processes.

Dates: Workshop one weekend a month from February until November, and in the months of June, July and August, twice a month.
Time: 10.30am until 4.30pm both days, with 45 mins for lunch

Content: This class is an introduction to enamelling. At the end students will have some tile samples and also a pendant or two pendants (depending on how fast they are) to bring home with them.

*Please bring an apron (natural fibres, not plastic) and a notebook. There is plenty of parking and close to the M50. Bring your own lunch, but there are shops very close by. Tea and coffee provided.

Saturday morning: A discussion of what enamelling is, the various techniques that are used, colours, types of enamel, the kiln, tools and safety, examples to look at, and preparation of metal. We will be using copper.
Lunch
Afternoon: Start a project using sifting/powdered enamels, opaque and transparent colours, stencilling, gradients. This section will be learning about layering and stencilling enamels, and doing multiple firings on one copper tile.

Sunday morning: Learning more about transparent enamels and trying out silver leaf. Then we will move onto painting enamels as though they are watercolours.
Lunch
Afternoon: Using copper foil with transparent enamels and texturing metal. Making your pendant(s) using one or two of the methods you have learned.

Cost: €150 plus materials fee of €15 so €165 per person for the weekend.
There will be a 50% deposit in advance of the class.
