National ‘Tea Cosy’ Competition – Deadline Wednesday 16th May 2012

Tea Cosy’s are back and if they are not we are bringing them back.  With our modern fast paced lives we still enjoy sitting back and having a nice cuppa after a long day’s work or enjoy a friends company, and there is nothing better than having a top up….except when the tea has gone cold!

Bringing back the tea cosy will hopefully rejuvenate the need for a beautiful teapot, a handmade cup and time out to ponder on life’s inspirations!

We are going nationally with this competition to ensure all corners of Ireland remember to enjoy being creative, drinking tea and uniting together to revive our Folk crafts.

The shop is quite large and carries such brands as Lang, Schoppel Wolle, Drops Garnstudio, Artesano, Manos Del Uruguay, Donegal Tweed, Kerry, King Cole, Sirdar, Eucalan and many more.  We have lots of shop samples done up to show the wonderful things that can be done with yarn.

Fumbally Exchange Balbriggan offers low-cost, low-risk business incubation. For €50 per week, entrepreneurs, creative professionals and start-ups can rent a fully-serviced desk in shared office space on Railway St  Balbriggan, Co Dublin – right across from the train station.

It’s not just about the desk. More importantly, members get to network, share knowledge, brainstorm, learn business strategy and work together.

“Collaboration is key,” said George Boyle, architect and founder of Fumbally Exchange. “The members of Fumbally Exchange are individual businesses, but when they come together, they can take on bigger projects than they could do alone.”

The Fumbally Exchange approach works

The first Fumbally Exchange, off Clanbrassil St in Dublin city centre, was founded in 2010 and is now home to more than 40 small businesses.

The Fumbally Exchange success was recognised when George Boyle was named as a recipient of the Arthur Guinness Fund Social Entrepreneur 2011 award for the Fumbally Exchange project.

 Making Work – Together

“We were determined to prove that by working together and supporting each other, we could fight the negative effects of recession – one small business at a time,” said Boyle. “We are doing that every day. Come and meet us in Fumbally Exchange Balbriggan to find out more.”
